Installation

Installation Guide

DEWAWI is a free, platform-independent, Open Source ERP System. In this guide, we show you how to install the system on your web server.

We recommend using a so-called LAMP Server. See the System Requirements section for a detailed list of requirements for DEWAWI. The system can either be installed on a web server in the local network or on a cloud server. The system is then available to all users in the network.

To avoid unauthorized access to confidential internal data and information, the installation must be secured accordingly. You can find out more about security on the Security Advice page.

Download, unzip and upload via FTP program

  • Download the latest stable version in .zip or .tar.gz format.
  • Unzip the file with a suitable program (e.g. 7-Zip) into a folder on your PC.
  • Upload the contents of the folder to your web server using an FTP program (e.g. FileZilla).
  • Alternatively, the compressed file can also be loaded onto the web server and unpacked directly on the server.

Create a new MySQL database

  • Depending on the server configuration, a database can be created via the user interface of the web server, via phpMyAdmin or directly via the command line.
  • Create a new MySQL database on your web server and note the access data such as host, database name, user name and password of the database.

Installation Process

  • To start the installation process, open your browser and enter the specified URL in its address bar (e.g. dewawi.domain.tld).
  • If there is no configuration file (database.ini) you will be automatically redirected to the installation script.
  • Follow the instructions and configure the system using the installation script.
  • The script will check the configuration of the server and the write permissions of folders.
  • After all the requirements have been met, enter the data for the database connection.
  • When all steps have been completed without errors, DEWAWI has been successfully installed and is functional.
  • You can call up the specified URL or URL and subdirectory and log in with the following user name and password:
    Username: admin
    Password: admin

The basic configuration takes place in the file “database.ini”, which is filled with connection data for the database during the installation. After installation, DEWAWI can be easily managed via the administration via a web browser.

Manual Installation

  • Unzip the zip file with a suitable program into a folder on your PC and upload the contents of the folder to your web server.
  • Create a new database and import the SQL file here into install/config/import.sql
  • Set the necessary read and write permissions for files and folders.
    The following folders must be writable: cache, files, session
  • Open the “database.sample.ini” file in the “configs” subfolder and add the connection data for the database.
    The following values must be added for MySQL servers:
    resources.db.params.host = localhost
    resources.db.params.username = username
    resources.db.params.password = password
    resources.db.params.dbname = dewawi
  • Rename the file “database.sample.ini” to “database.ini”.
  • DEWAWI ist jetzt installiert und funktionsfähig. Sie können die Domain oder die Domain + Unterverzeichnis aufrufen und sich mit folgender Berechtigungsname und folgendes Passwort einloggen:
    Username: admin
    Password: admin
